10 Twitterers to Follow in Perth

If you want to keep really up to date with what's going on in Perth, then there are plenty of Twitter members in Perth who you can follow - news organisations, individuals and everything in between who can give you the low down on what's happening in this Western Australian capital. Check out some of these Twitter users:

A Round of Golf in Perth

With the Johnnie Walker Classic golf tournament finishing up in Perth last week, tourist eyes might be pretty excited about the golfing possibilities in Western Australia's capital. And with good reason - we're a city that's built across a huge area meaning there is plenty of room for golf courses.

Maritime Museum for Sea-Loving Perth Visitors

Life in Perth tends to revolve around the water, and that's one reason the Maritime Museum in the port area of Fremantle is a really popular place to visit.

Getting Around By Train in Perth

A lot of locals lament Perth's public transport system - in particular, all the buses that don't come on time - but the train system is something I'm actually pretty proud of. If you're a tourist visiting Perth, then you'll be able to reach most of the important sightseeing spots by train, so it's worth knowing a little about how it works.

Perth's Five Train Lines

New Perth Ferris Wheel Not A Great Hit

I don't know what's happening around Australian cities these days but every major city has been sticking up a ferris wheel. Early this year the Wheel of Perth opened up here, a normal-looking (but quite small) ferris wheel on the foreshore of the river, near the Bell Tower.

Gamble a Perth night away at Burswood Casino

I can still remember when the Burswood Casino first opened up here in Perth in the mid-1980s. It was a big sensation for this coming-of-age city to get its first casino, and back then dress standards were strict and queues were long.

More Visitors Coming To Perth (Someone Thinks)

I love Perth, of course, but I would never expect it to become a tourism hotspot, simply because its isolation means it's never really "on the way" to anywhere. But apparently, despite economic doom and gloom around the world - a little bit less so in Perth, still more buoyant from the mining boom - the powers that be reckon the future of Perth looks bright and a heap more hotels are needed.

Exomod News - Best Cafe in Perth is Expanding

I used to live near the Mount Lawley cafe strip in Perth and at that time I got addicted to visiting the Exomod cafe at 615 Beaufort Street, both because the drinks they make are fantastic (I became a big fan of their hot chocolates) and they always have decadent cakes to serve up too. Plus, it's one of the few places in Perth that actually opens late - apparently it's 24 hours over the weekend which is really rare.

Sydney Harbour Bridge - Climb It Or Cross It?

On our recent trip to Sydney, my husband's first since migrating to Australia, I asked him if there was anything special he wanted to do, like climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge. The whole BridgeClimb experience has become really famous since my last visit there, and I thought he might like to get on top of this famous bridge.

Free Events at the Perth International Arts Festival

February and March are often extra exciting times to be in Perth when events for the Perth International Arts Festival get underway. I've been following this festival since I was a kid, when it was simply the "Festival of Perth", but with the name change came a big push to get more international culture heading into this isolated city, and they're doing a great job.
