Do you know the relation between any culture and its own city? Truly almost none can determine it. But if you come to Lucknow in India this strange connection will be crystal clear. Lucknow, for centuries, has been part of an aristorratc culture and responsible fort the development of two premier languages, Hindi and Urdu. In the growth of a composite culture in India these languages and the city has played a very significant role. While Sanskrit is the mother of Hindi, Urdu is the output both of Sanskrit and Farshi.
One of the best things about eating in New York is the great food varieties available. On the insistence of my friend we headed towards one of the oldest restaurants in the city called Meskerem Restaurant. This place has a rather cosy atmosphere and I must say the hospitality impressed me. The food at Meskerem was certainly worth coming back from. The vegetarian specialities like wot, alcha, shiro, misir and qey kik wot were the selective favourites of New Yorkers. The décor and location was cool with the crowd including artists, lawyers and even techies.
We went to Chicago a number of times but this was the first time that we visited the place in spring. The city has just shed of its winter chill and seems to getting up from hibernation. This is also the time when some of the most popular tourist destinations are reopening after a dull season of business. It is the ideal time of the year and you can just stroll around with a light jacket and enjoy this lovely city on foot. The temperature is just right to avoid heavy winter wear and not get sun burnt due to the summer heat.
When did the fame of Melbourne start making its headway from?
It’s nothing but a blasphemous act, to many Britishers, to be in London but not to have a taste of the traditional British food. Now it may be that you do hail from any part of the world but in the city of London you will get only food based on beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish and is generally served with potatoes and one other vegetable, since it is a part of the conventional British food. But never forget that the mot common and foods eaten in London are the sandwich, fish and chips, pies that include the Cornish pastry, trifle and roast dinners.
