An Odditorium in New York

An Odditorium is a strange museum which is full of the most bizarre stuff (it is a collection of all sorts of odd stuff - hence the name). The concept in its modern form was apparently first introduced by a certain Ripley. From here is derived the name "Ripley's Believe it or Not!". There are several such Ripley museums throughout the country and most are well worth a few hours of visit. Now that I am visiting New York and I have heard that a new 'Ripley's' has opened up on 42nd street, you can be sure I am going to pay them a visit (probably tomorrow)!

Comics of New York

Who doesn’t like to browse through comic strips?

Chinatown

Chinatown:
The cultural diversity is part of what makes Manhattan a rather unique tourist area. A district that is certainly no to be missed is Chinatown. This district today covers most of what is known as "Little Italy" as well as a small portion of the "Lower East Side".

UpTown and DownTown

Traveling about Manhattan can sometime be a bit confusing until you get a hang of it. A central issue that can often be confusing for newcomers is that of directions. New Yorkers tend to refer to things as being 'Uptown' or 'Downtown' relative to where they are. The subways are also similarly labeled and designated as traveling uptown or downtown. This is derived from the fact that Manhattan is actually a long and narrow island nestled in a natural harbor.

Tipping Tips

OK, I had a great meal at a New York restaurant, how much should I tip?
