Karie & Scott's European Adventure

Barcelona City Blog

This is not technically a city blog as Karie & Scott move around so much but I love reading the first impressions of the places they visit seen through wide and observant American eyes. They are a married couple who sold practically everything they own and moved to Barcelona, and are currently travelling around Europe, seemingly going absolutely everywhere!

Keep Austin Weird

This particular subject will take many posts. In fact, I can't foresee how many because there are so many opportunities to write about how Austin is determined to "Keep Austin Weird."

The “Keep Austin Weird” movement began sometime after 2000 when Red Wassenich phoned in to make a donation to the community radio station KOOP.
When asked why he was donating he made an off-the-cuff comment stating it helps to keep Austin weird. That flipped a switch for Wassenich.

How to be mistaken for a Parisian

The French are known for their impeccable sense of style, and while this post may not be able to share the exact secret to possessing that certain je ne sais quoi that the French (especially French women) are known for, it should be able to help you blend in and look a little less touristy (often code for American).

Please say please in Paris!

The French have a reputation for being rude and nasty to tourists, and sometimes this is true, but there is a very simple way to avoid this happening to you. Even if you speak NO French, observing a few basic niceties each time you interact with a French person will make your stay infinitely better.
