Big Heads Up

I am amused by this large head bronze sculpture in the Jardin de Luxembourg. Le Prophete by sculptor Louis Derbre, stands 6.50 meters (21 ft.) and weighs 12 tons.
It's a stark contrast to the delicately detailed queens of France statues in white marble lining the park.

Louis Debre is a world renowned sculptor and his work has been shown all over the world including Brazil, the U.S.,Canada, Norway, Japan, Indonesia and the Ivory Coast. His crowning achievement came in 1997 with the six monumental sculptures he did for the Hiroshima peace memorial.

A Tour of the 5ème, part 1

Paris. It's one of my favorite places on earth, and a great city in which to walk in, since everything is so compact, and the 5ème, home to the Quartier Latin (Latin Quarter), is one of its most famous. I've chosen to write about the 5ème in detail because it was my quartier during my time abroad in Paris, and it's packed with hidden delights. So, without further ado, let's begin this multi-part tour of the 5ème.
