This month the theme is the history of cities.

We are looking for lighthearted (no stuffy history buffs please!) views on how the history of a city shapes its feeling and culture today.

You are free to interpret that whatever way you wish along as your piece relates to a particular city, eg take a specific event in time or a brief look at what has happened overall.

Also it does not have to be the most obvious historical event. Anything will do, no matter how obscure, as long as you can entertainingly convey a sense of why your particular focus is of importance to the modern day city.

As a final tip - think outside the box! Take a different angle or viewpoint from the norm!

Entries must be received before noon GMT on Thursday 31st July. The winner will be announced on Friday 8th August.
