Big Heads Up

I am amused by this large head bronze sculpture in the Jardin de Luxembourg. Le Prophete by sculptor Louis Derbre, stands 6.50 meters (21 ft.) and weighs 12 tons.
It's a stark contrast to the delicately detailed queens of France statues in white marble lining the park.

Louis Debre is a world renowned sculptor and his work has been shown all over the world including Brazil, the U.S.,Canada, Norway, Japan, Indonesia and the Ivory Coast. His crowning achievement came in 1997 with the six monumental sculptures he did for the Hiroshima peace memorial.

The "Other" Parks in New York City Part 1

While most people only think of one park when they picture New York City, there are actually many more green spots in Manhattan than just Central Park. One of these beautiful areas is Battery Park, located at Battery Place and State and Whitehall Streets in Manhattan. Battery Park is more than just a great place to get a view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, it's a big piece of New York City history.

It is Friday afternoon in Austin and all I can think about is....

Barton Springs. It will be a miracle if I get my work done before relinquishing all control to the shimmering clear water calling me from afar. Being an Austinite means quitting work early in the summer. We love our springs. We love our happy hour after the springs (happy hour and the springs is not reserved for Fridays by any means).
Swimming in Barton Springs is required if you are going to call yourself an Austinite. Dipping in a toe or seeing it from the hill side does not count. If you are visiting, we will be happy to baptize you in our doctrine.
