I don't know what's happening around Australian cities these days but every major city has been sticking up a ferris wheel. Early this year the Wheel of Perth opened up here, a normal-looking (but quite small) ferris wheel on the foreshore of the river, near the Bell Tower.
The idea is nice, but the cost makes it kind of over-rated, in my opinion. Because it's not too high, then the views you will get from the top are similar to what you'll see from Kings Park, for free. The Wheel of Perth costs $15 per adult for a 15-minute ride, which is three revolutions. If it was $5, I'd have a go, but so far I've only looked at the wheel from the ground as a matter of principle.
But despite my misgivings, if you want to try it yourself, it's easy to find - just walk down Barrack Street from the city centre, or alternatively take the train to the Esplanade station and when you come out, you'll see it.
Ferris Wheel
Who cares if its not "fun" to ride. It looks very pretty and brightens up the city if you ask me :)
Looks pretty ...
I'm not bothered by it being there - it looks kind of fun, and isn't an eyesore or anything. I just think it's probably not worth the money to ride it! If it was free (or cheaper) it'd be fun to ride it :-)
