Swim with Sharks in Perth at AQWA (or Just Watch Them)
Western Australia is renowned for its incredible coastline, but the problem is that it's a coastline that's incredibly long. If you're curious about the wildlife found along the WA coast, then luckily there's an easy way to see it all in one place, at the Aquariam of Western Australia or AQWA as it's more commonly known.
AQWA is a large aquarium (and is formerly known as Underwater World, good to know if you're asking a local how to find it) which features marine environments from along the state coast. It has a large underwater tunnel where visitors stand on a travelator and are taken around under an enormous tank, which is home to sharks, stingrays and a huge variety of fish. There are other smaller displays, a touch pool and lots of information on fish and other sea life. Entry to AQWA is A$26 for an adult but you can get family passes too.
If you book ahead, you can also either scuba diver or snorkel in the large tank with sharks. I've been assured that the sharks are well-fed and never hungry, but the idea still makes me a bit nervous. What's more, the price for jumping in with the sharks is A$125 (plus equipment hire) and that's a bit steep for me - but for others, I guess it's a great opportunity.
AQWA is part of the Sorrento Quay complex at Hillarys Boat Harbour, about 20 minutes north of Perth city. You can take a bus from the city or it's an easy (and pretty) coastal drive. It's open every day of the year from 10am to 5pm.

Fishies!
Hehe.
My husband and I went to the Melbourne exhibit on our honeymoon and saw the people swimming with sharks. They look amazing - along with all the other creatures - but I reckon I'd rather just watch.
Definitely worth checking out, though!
