3D Tour of Ancient Rome On Google Earth

Google Earth has teamed up with the University of Virginia’s Rome Reborn 2.0 project to provide a 3D virtual visit to ancient Rome during the reign of the Emperor Constantine in the early 4th century. Nearly 7,000 structures-apartment buildings, courts, temples, theaters and stadiums-from the ancient Imperial capital were rendered in three dimensions so users can zoom and swoop into buildings and squares for a more concrete idea of what Rome once looked like. The virtual tour of Rome is certainly no substitute for a visit to the Eternal City, but is a great tool for visitors who seek to envision the city as it was over 16 centuries ago.
